Southeast Texas Olive Co-Owner Speaks At 2017 Christus LiveWell Women’s Conference
Southeast Texas Olive co-owner, Randy Brazil, recently delivered a keynote speech at the 10th Christus Live Well Women’s Conference.
Beaumont, TX – Randy Brazil, co-owner of Southeast Texas Olive, an award-winning 100% organic certified orchard that grows, bottles and distributes premium quality extra virgin olive oil, recently spoke at the 10th annual Christus LiveWell Women’s Conference to increase awareness of the region’s thriving olive oil industry. Since 2008, the Christus LiveWell Women’s Conference has convened to inform, educate, and empower women. The 2017 LiveWell conference, held on Thursday, May 11, in Beaumont, TX featured actress Geena Davis and showcased a diverse range of workshops and sessions designed to help women proactively enhance their physical, mental, and spiritual well being.
When asked to represent Southeast Texas Olive at the conference, Brazil knew exactly what he’d like to focus on throughout his speech: an in-depth look at some of the many health benefits offered by olives and olive oil. “Most of us know that extra virgin olive oil offer impressive dietary advantages,” Brazil noted. “However, recent studies and reports indicate that these products may also offer other significant holistic health gains. In my presentation, I discuss findings about these contributing to improved bone strength, increased pain relief, and cell damage prevention through elevated antioxidant activity. Other studies have shown olive oil may even help regulate insulin levels and promote heart health. The Christus LiveWell Women’s Conference provided a perfect forum for Southeast Texas Olive to share some of the many benefits found in extra virgin olive oils. Brazil’s presentation also highlighted other industry related details. In addition to potential health perks, he also shared an outline of how he became involved in farming olives and most specifically, why he chose to own a grove in Devers, Texas. When asked about his decision, Brazil noted; “In my presentation, I discussed how critical it is to find an ideal climate for consistent, healthy harvests. As farmers, we know how to manipulate the soil to improve growing conditions, but there’s little we can do to change the climate. Our rich, southern soil definitely contributes to our success, but Texas’ steady, ideal climate is one of our biggest harvest advantages.
